Warm Weather Returns - And With It, More Great Skort and Short Options

The weather's warming up across the country and that means we can ditch the heavy outerwear and start pulling out our shorts - and skorts - once again. I've always been more of shorts-wearer on the golf course, but I've been coveting a great skort and I'm jonesing to buy one this season. With built-in shorts, the skort provides the range of motion and coverage that golf demands yet still offers a fun, flirty/sporty silhouette. I've seen the scary skort - too long, too tent-like, too heavy or bulky and with some questionable patterns to say the least - but with some investigative work, I've discovered a few I think might make the cut:

Iconic Metropolitan Polka-Dot Skort - $134.95

Made right here in the Bay area, Iconic golfwear is notable for its use of luxury technical performance fabrics. Primarily microfiber with a touch of lycra spandex, this silky jersey skirt manages moisture and odor and features ultra-lightweight shorts with skin-facing, non chafing seams, zippered front pockets and a rear scorecard pocket. In addition to this adorable dot pattern - my favorite - the Metropolitan Skort is also available in a pink and white, yarn-dyed houndstooth performance fabric and a sharp and 'suitable' black performance knit.

Green Tee Women's Swish Plaid Skort - $52.24

I'm partial to plaid - and to this great swingy skort in brown plaid print with three side pleats and rivet details for a bit of edge. The cut is flattering - helped out by invisible front and back seam line pockets and a nylon/rayon/spandex blend.

Golftini Pink and Grey Plaid Skort - $136

I own a pair of Ecco pink golf shoes very similar to these - and this Golftini pink plaid skirt with the pale pink piping pairs up perfectly. (The tongue-twisting alliteration wasn't intentional - but I think I'll keep it.) The skirt sits lower on the hips - about 1.5 inches below the natural waist - and has two super-deep side pockets (nice touch as my tees tend to fall out otherwise) and one back pocket.
